On Thursday 03 September, in the face of a rush of journalists anxious to play the emotional angle, urging her on about what should be done about the plight of refugees, Tima Kurdi looked directly into the camera and said more than once through bitter tears, "Stop the war. They know how to do it, but they won't."

Tima Kurdi, the aunt of Alan Kurdi, the three-year-old Syrian boy whose lifeless body washed up on a Turkish beach, said her brother's family had been forced to flee the civil war in Syria, paying smugglers for a dangerous and fatal boat trip.

"They didn't deserve to die, they didn't," said Tima Kurdi, the father's sister, who lives in Coquitlam, B.C. She was speaking of her nephew Alan, who drowned along with his brother, Galib, 5, and their mother, Rehamin, in the tragic attempted crossing of the Aegean Sea from Turkey to Greece. Their deaths drew worldwide attention to the Syrian war.

To his eternal discredit, Prime Minister Stephen Harper responded to journalist questions with an appropriate choke, then went on, in effect, to dismiss the tragedy as incidental because there are millions of war refugees in the Middle East. He said he had visited two refugee camps populated by tens of thousands.

Then, with total disregard of recent historical events, Harper blamed the death and destruction on the IS (ISIS). Harper said that is why it is necessary for Canada to continue in the U.S. led bombing in Syria and Iraq. It's difficult to know if Harper has the disturbed mind of a delusional pathological liar, or if he is simply dangerously uninformed

In stark contrast, demonstrating the clearest thinking of any leading Canadian politician in the immediate wake of the tragedy, New Democratic Party leader, Thomas Mulcair, to his eternal credit, said there is no military role for the Canadian Forces in the conflict in Syria and Iraq.

Mulcair, made his comment during a meeting Friday September 04 2015 at a seniors' residence in Brossard on Montreal's south shore.

Mulcair said the current conflict in Syria and Iraq is the result of the attempted overthrow of a government coupled with the misguided military policies of Western powers — proving, he added, that more bombs are not the answer.

Mulcair initially said that Canada’s military had no role at all to play in the conflict, but a party spokesman later clarified that NDP policy is in favour of the army playing a humanitarian role, such as providing aid to refugees.

Again, on Saturday 5 September, Ms Kurdi repeated her call for an end to the war against a barrage of questions by reporters ignoring her wisdom by trying their best to milk the emotional about the plight of the refugees. Ms Kurdi reiterated more than once, "Stop the War."

Thursday 09 September, in conversation with Peter Mansbridge on CBC TV, Mulcair said an NDP government would cease all military involvement in the Middle East.

Asked by Mansbridge if he did not think ISIS was a threat to Canada, Mulcair said, "Peter, I know what poses a threat to Canada and Canadians, it's continued war in a region that's known almost nothing but (war) for 35 years, going back to the Iran-Iraq war shortly after that revolution. We went through Desert Storm and the first Gulf War and then we went through, which was supposedly mission accomplished, by getting rid of Saddam Hussein. And everything has flowed from that, all the horrors, and I'm not trying to understate them, that we're seeing (now) flow from that. So I think that the best thing for Canada to do is to start playing a positive role for peace and that's – that would be a top priority for me as the prime minister of Canada."

Mulcair hit the proverbial bullseye. I have no use for al-Assad. After all he co-operated with the CIA during the George W. Bush Iraq war madness in staging at least one torture black site. But let's take a brief look at how the war in Syria began.

In March 2011 there were huge anti-al-Assad demonstrations in Damascus, Syria's capital city, and in several other cities. The parades were peaceful. However, according to President Bashar al-Assad, (and we have no more reason not to believe him than the proven liars in Washington) several foreign-inspired agents produced automatic rifles and began firing at the armed authorities who were monitoring the parades. The latter, reasonably enough, fired back.

Throughout, and to date, there are allegations that both sides have lied about what happened on March 2011 and on what has happened since. However, the Washington dominated international propaganda media, despite having no pencils and notebooks on the ground, jumped to the conclusion that President al-Assad's forces had fired on unarmed protestors. And so began beating the drums of war, deliberately satisfying Washington's demands to foster a ruthless character assassination of al-Assad. This is what the Americans always do to build up support for their war ambitions back home and wherever else their so-called disinformation will work.

We need go back only a half-century to Washington's phony Gulf of Tonkin appeal to the popular sense of American justice. In August 1964, Washington falsely announced a North Vietnamese attack on a U.S. navel vessel. That lie roused a sense of injury among fair-minded Americans leading to the disastrous war in Vietnam.
Yugoslavia was another failure to honestly communicate. Vicious Albanians with pro-nazi roots during the nazi occupation in World War II called themselvesi the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Originally, the CIA had accurately identified them as thugs self-financed by drug running, and the capturing and selling of girls into prostitution. There are photos available of KLA members beating victims to death and gleefully waving severed heads of Serbians. (For photographic evidence Google Kosovo Liberation Army.)

When it suited Washington's policy these sadistic killers became freedom fighters and the media swallowed it whole.
With a hop, skip, and jump we move ahead to Libya and Washington's secret war.

On 21 December 1988, the wreckage of Pan Am Flight 103 crashed on Lockerbie, Scotland, after a terrorist bomb on board detonated. All 259 people on the flight died. The 270 total victims were citizens of 20 different nations. Eleven Locherbie residents also died.

In 2009 Muammar el-Gadhafi didn't make happy campers out of the oil companies who were doing business with Libya when he made them cough up millions to pay reparations for the destruction of Pan Am Flight 103 but he was seemingly welcomed as a bosom buddy by Washington, London, Paris, Rome, and Berlin.

But the honeymoon was short lived and the demise of Gadhafi was put high on Washington's secret agenda. A propaganda campaign developed with the false claims that Gadhafi was a madman slaughtering his own unarmed civilians. For the full story read this story written in 2011 by John Barry, national security correspondent for Newsweek magazine since 1985. Barry tells us that Washington has spent more than one billion dollars to finance and manipulate its Libyan franchise.

Washington conducted a massive media campaign of character assassination against their new buddy, Muammar el-Gadhafi, because he was stepping out of line by going about calling on African and Muslim countries to adopt a single currency, the gold dinar, which could have competed with the euro and the dollar. Not to forget their eye  on the super rich assets in oil and other valuable resources.

The U.N.-sanctioned war in Libya was unfortunate, to put it mildly, because Libya had the highest development on the African continent in terms of education, health and wealth, according to a U.N. human development report.

Meanwhile, that proven pathological liar, Hilary Clinton, soft-soaped U.S. and NATO betrayal of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973 (2011) that declared a no-fly zone over Libya. Under the radar, as the military would put it, Washington directed that the no-fly zone be escalated to carpet bombing. A result was the murder of Gadhafi and the destruction of Libya as functioning state. Clinton, with unabashed hypocrisy called the bombing a humanitarian gesture. The bombing created chaos, death, and destruction in a Libya that is now a failed state from and through which thousands of mostly well-off refugees are literally dying to escape to Europe.

Washington has tried to do the same with Syria. First by its tradition of character assassination against Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.. Then by funding "rebels" to feed a murderous "civil war" that has so far taken the lives of about 250,000. The millions spent by Washington and their European allies have financed "rebel" groups that have transmuted into the IS (ISIS). Now Washington and its European allies have to deal with monsters of their own creation, including the millions of refugees that are pounding on the doors of wealthier European countries.

I'll leave the last word to Russian president Vladimir Putin, another target of American vicious character assassination. For several years Putin has been appealing for a diplomatic settlement of the war in Syria. The Americans, with their English, French, and German puppets, were smugly dismissive as they opened the door for their nationals to travel to Syria to fight the al-Assad government and "secretly" fed arms into the country to support the "good rebels".

Putin warned that it was a wrong policy that would backfire. Putin's warning was mild appeal to reason. Now we have the "good rebels" transmuted into an IS that is armed to the proverbial teeth with American and West European battle equipment in what is essentially the American war in Syria.

In the midst of the carnage, al-Assad, dug in on the shore of the Meditteranean Sea, isn't going anywhere. He's well armed and prepared for the long haul.

Meanwhile, Putin, with a wary eye on the IS, continues to call for a diplomatic solution to the war. Considering the mess they've created, Washington and its European puppets may now perhaps take seriously the plea of Ms Tima Kurdi and Stop the War.

Perhaps, but only perhaps, because war is a big, profitable business in the U.S.. Despite General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower's warning to the American people against allowing the military-industrial complex to seize control, the myopic war makers are in power. And to satisfy their delinquent adolescent hunger for world domination, this evil group will proceed with no concessions to three-year-old boys drowning in the waters of the world.

Let's hope that anti-war leaders such as Tom Mulcair win the advantage and take the world by the hand on the road to peace.
