Making It Look Easy
When I asked the editor of a literary magazine what he thought of True North Perspective, his long and ongoing experience prompted him to say, "The content is so rich and varied, I don't know how you find time to think when you put it together."
The answer is that Webmaster Carl Hall, Managing Editor Geoffrey Dow, and Carl Dow, Editor and Publisher, work very hard. Combined, we put in at least 90 hours per issue as skilled professionals. At union rates we invest $4,590 of our time to produce each issue.
This does not take into account the time and effort of our volunteer columnists and contributing editors, whose work further enriches the quality of our unique publication.
Nor does it take into account the money required to pay for the hardware required for delivery to your desktop.
It takes a lot of hard work to make it look easy.

A public service
Recently, I said to an original subscriber, who donates $100 per year, and who probably spends as much time on the web as I do, you probably find reading True North Perspective a redundancy. No-no, he said, “I often find stories in True North that I haven't read elsewhere.” That was encouraging. If it was news to him, it would be news to our thousands of readers who don't have the time to rake the internet.
We try to provide a service about that which is ignored or distorted by the corporate-controlled mainstream media. Without the truth, how can any of us make informed decisions in a chaotic and ever-changing world?
The mainstream media have reported, for example, that the U.S. under president Obama, and secretaries of state Clinton and Kerry, have been insisting there can be no solution to the Syria crisis so long as president Bashar al-Assad remains in power. There can be no negotiations, they said, until al-Assad is gone. Meanwhile, Washington maintained an illegal (if ineffective) bombing campaign in Syria, among other illegal acts of aggression.
As True North Perspective has made clear, the Americans and their so-called coalition have been dropping enough bombs, allegedly on ISIS, to blow Syria off the map. Meanwhile ISIS grew in numbers, territory, and economic power. Washington had been hoping that by dropping mostly near-miss bombs, ISIS would become powerful enough to destroy the al-Assad regime and so achieve the American goal of regime change, as with Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya.
What the corporate-controlled media does not tell us is that when, at the official request of the Syrian government, the Russians began bombing ISIS on September 30, 2015, Washington rightly concluded their jig was up. Washington had hopes of using ISIS as proxy boots on the ground to defeat al-Assad. Now that the Russians had entered the game the would-be American pawns stood in real danger of being wiped out.
Suddenly, al-Assad didn't have to go. Well ... not right now, anyway. Diplomacy has become the order of the day. And Kerry tries to take credit for it.
Lying seems to be the way of life for those in Washington. They lie to their electorate and you can bet your kit-and-caboodle that they lie to themselves and to each other.
Now you see why it's so important that True North Perspective has the resources necessary to get you the news and analysis you can't find on your nightly newscast or in your morning paper. We're proud to have done this during the past 10 years. With your support, we'll keep on doing it for many years to come.
