International revulsion at
public executions in Iran
Editorial

Iran continues to draw international condemnation with its public execution policy.
Three men and a woman, convicted of murder, have been lashed and then hanged in Tabriz
The lashings occured because the four had also allegedly been involved in illegitimate relationships and robbery.
The hangings bring to more than one hundred the number of public executions carried out in Iran so far this year.
In coming days, it is believed people convicted of repeated rape and violent assaults will be sent to the gallows in Tehran
Amnesty International has revealed that capital offences in Iran include murder, rape, armed robbery, apostasy, blasphemy, serious drug trafficking, sodomy, adultery, prostitution, treason and espionage.
Amnesty expressed outrage this week when it learned that a man convicted of adultery had been stoned to death.
