Democracy is something we can never take for granted. Like cancer within the human body authoritarianism is ever present, ever trying to take control. Fortunately, for most of us, our immune system kicks in and kicks out the malignancy. It’s when we let our guard down that a country can find itself saddled with the kind of political leadership that is being suffered by our American cousins.
Their leaders, blinded by inflated egos, and by a murderous need to satisfy greed, use lying as their vehicle. In an article below Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh says in reference to a top gun in manipulation of American policy for decades, “ . . . Henry Kissinger was a disaster because he lies like most people breathe and you can't have that in public life.”
It calls to mind that Monica Lewinski reported that when she asked her mother what she should do when her trysts with president Clinton were hitting the front pages, her mother said: “Lie.” An American Colonel (ret’d) several times when speaking on the Larry King show in the weeks leading up to that tragic stroke of lunacy in March 2003, called Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld, “The Liars Club”.
Lying, it seems, has become the American Way. The legacy that this bunch of thugs is leaving is a trail of the dead and the maimed, of massive destruction, of a country crippled by debt most of which is owned (what irony) by Communist China and Japan. And a deepening culture of lies.
Bush (like his counterpart in Iran) claims he’s doing God’s Work. At best he’s the anti-Christ. Meanwhile, Cheney, his bloody hands dripping, casts an evil eye on Iran. They have no shame.
However, there is, and always has been, a powerful positive force in America. This is illustrated below in a release of this week’s agenda of Democrats.com/Unity.
Tens of thousands of Americans are working hard to win back their country. Thanks to the latest in technology, especially the internet, they are able to mobilize many more thousands into actions that include traditional door-to-door visits, local meetings, and gatherings in Washington that number in the hundreds of thousands. They can do today in days, even hours, what it took past generations weeks and months to accomplish, with better results.
Please take time to read this week’s agenda for Demicrats.com. It represents the best traditions of America. It represents what America is to me.
Looking forward
